I just aquired a not quite 3 week old pup, that I am trying to help survive. I have her on Esbilac milk, but it's such a nerve racking experience. Does anybody have any helpful tips/pointers?

Mhmmm if it's any thing like a kitten..

I just held my kitten like a baby..and slowly first eyedropped it in..

then she started to suck on the bottle slowly..

I know you need to feed every 2-3 hrs ..and as much as they want.

Good luck..adn sorry i cna't get you more info.

Well, I think its actually not good to hold them on their backs, like babies. It makes it easier for them to choke. I bottle fed 9 three week old puppies, so I know your pain. Just hold them in your lap, tip their heads back a little, and hold the nipple of the bottle in their mouths. They should do all the work on their own.

I started mixing canned puppy food with the milk formula, to make a very very thin gruel when my pups were four weeks old, then on the fifth week, they started slurping it off of a saucer.

I think that at three weeks, you dont have to rub their bottoms to make them potty, but I you might want to ask a vet on that one. I had to do that to my pups for about a week after I had them, so...

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the pup!
